Special Concert on 23rd July at The Parish Church of St Mark, Mansfield

On Saturday 23rd July 2022 at 7:30pm, the Parish Church of St Mark, Mansfield, is hosting a special concert.

The collective work is titled "The English Orpheus", and is to be performed by "Sanctus Marcus Collegium Musicum", which translated from Latin means "St. Mark's College of Music".

Performing will be:

Music is by English composers from the 18th to the 21st Centuries, with works by Arne, Gibbs, Handel, Elgar, Finzi and Brunt.

Thomas Arne (1710–1778) is best known for his songs "Rule, Britannia!" and "A-Hunting We Will Go". He wrote operatic works, concertos, sinfonias and sonatas.

Armstrong Gibbs (1889–1960) was best known for his popular choral music songs, including "Dusk".

George Frideric Handel (1685–1759) was a German born English composer known for his operas, oratorios and instrumental compositions.

Edward Elgar (1857–1934) composed orchestral works, concertos, symphonies and choral works.

Gerald Finzi (1901–1956) is best known as a choral composer.

Hugh Brunt, with Robert Ames, is the artistic director and conductor of the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Admission is £8 on the door and includes refreshments.
